XM warns of a firm-energy gap above 10,000 GWh by 2030
Bulletin 366 projects the firm-energy shortfall rising to 10,603 GWh in 2029–2030.
XM projections show the gap between firm energy and average demand could exceed 10,000 GWh by 2029–2030, according to energy bulletin 366 (30 October).
The shortfall path runs from 4,979 GWh (2025–26) to 10,603 GWh (2029–30). In a dry-season scenario, daily demand growth versus 2015–16 would be about 68 GWh, of which roughly 19 would come from solar and 49 from thermal and hydro.
What it means
Planning must treat firm capacity and storage with the same urgency as new solar parks.
