Grid operator XM reported that 42 generation projects totaling 698.2 MW entered commercial operation between July and September 2026. Of that total, 607.32 MW came from 39 solar plants, according to the third-quarter balance released in late October.

Puerta de Oro leads

The Puerta de Oro solar park in Cundinamarca alone added 300 MW. No wind farm entered commercial operation in the quarter. Solar capacity now stands at 2,590 MW (11.5% of the system).

What it means

Q3 more than doubled first-half additions. The next bottleneck is integrating variable output with transmission and firm backup.
