Oil and gas output still below 2015; imported gas hits 40% in October
CAMPETROL reports 731,000 b/d average oil in Jan–Aug 2026 and 704 MMcfd marketed gas; imported gas was 40% of supply in October.
Industry group CAMPETROL reported average oil production of 731,000 b/d in January–August 2026 — 27.3% below 2015’s 1.006 million b/d. Marketed gas was 704 MMcfd, 31.6% below 1,030 MMcfd eleven years earlier, according to Caracol Radio’s Nov. 4, 2026 coverage.
Import dependence
Imported gas accounted for 40% of total supply in October 2026, while proven gas reserves equal 5.9 years of production (vs 9.9 in 2015).
Contingent resources and Sirius
Colombia holds 10,540 Bcf of contingent gas. Portafolio notes the Sirius offshore project (Ecopetrol–Petrobras) at about 6 Tcf, with FID targeted for Q4 2027 and first gas in 2030–2031.
Corporate contrast
Ecopetrol separately reported 1,944 MMboe of proven reserves at end-2025 and a 121% replacement ratio driven by enhanced recovery — underscoring oil corporate resilience against a structural domestic gas gap.
