ANH: Colombia's 2025 reserves at 2,020 Mbbl of oil and 1,717 Bcf of gas

ANH and MinEnergía's Resources and Reserves Report 2025 puts oil R/P at 7.4 years and gas at 5.9, with more than 10.5 Tcf of contingent gas.

Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy and the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) released the 2025 Resources and Reserves Report. Proven oil reserves reached 2,020 million barrels, lifting the reserves-to-production (R/P) ratio from 7.2 to 7.4 years.

Proven natural-gas reserves stood at 1,717 billion cubic feet, with an R/P of 5.9 years. Contingent gas resources reached 10,540 Bcf in the 3C category, concentrated offshore in the Colombian Caribbean.

Oil replacement

In 2025 the country added 257 million barrels to proven reserves — 94 barrels replaced for every 100 produced, according to ANH. From 2018 to 2025, additions (2,054 Mbbl) exceeded extraction (1,992 Mbbl).

2026 production signal

ANH later reported year-to-date 2026 average oil output of 740,812 b/d, 3.15% above the 1P scenario. Marketed gas in March was near 700 MMcfd.

Sector takeaway

Oil is being sustained mainly by managing existing fields; gas security hinges on turning contingent resources — especially offshore — into commercial production.
